Cebu City Seventh-day Adventist Church in San Nicolas, Cebu City, hosted a 10-night evangelistic event themed “Cebu for Christ” from January 8 to 18, 2025. This effort resulted in the baptism of two individuals during the culmination night.

The event introduced Pastor Tyler Buford, the director of Max Life Ministry in Kentucky, USA, as the speaker, alongside Pastor Anastacio Blase, health and family ministries director of the Central Visayan Conference, as the Cebuano translator.

This gathering took place nightly from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., attracting attendees who were seeking spiritual renewal and a deeper understanding of God’s word. Streamed live on CCSDA’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel, the event also drew online viewers who initiated discussion in the comment section.

In collaboration with Big Build Australia and CVC, the evangelistic meeting provided attendees with a deep exploration of scripture, grace, and salvation. The series of sermons highlighted key biblical truths, offering hope, inspiration, and practical guidance for those seeking to strengthen their relationship with Christ.

Pastor Buford began the evangelistic event by sharing a personal testimony about how God’s grace had transformed his life. His message resonated with many in the audience, reminding them of their own experiences with the powerful ability of God’s grace to change and restore lives.

On the second night, Pastor Buford discussed the promise of a new heaven and a new earth, emphasizing the importance of living with eternity in mind. He also reflected on the life of Jesus, who, despite being the Son of God, had nowhere to lay His head on earth. This serves as a lesson for believers about the value of selflessness and humility.

During the succeeding nights, Pastor Buford covered a wide range of themes over several days. He talked about God’s unfailing love and the guarantee of salvation through Christ, emphasizing the importance of faith rooted in the Bible. He also clarified that salvation is a gift from God, not earned through works.

He also dedicated an evening to discussing the Sabbath as a time for rest and connection with God and another to the significance of baptism.

He provided hope by elaborating on the second coming of Christ and the resurrection, explored end-time prophecies, and ultimately emphasized God’s plan for victory and peace.

On the final night, Pastor Buford concluded with a message on the believer’s ultimate citizenship in heaven. He encouraged everyone to “throw away their passports,” emphasizing that, as Christians, their true home is not on earth but in the eternal kingdom of God.

The event ended with the joyous baptism of two precious souls who committed their lives to Christ.

The Cebu for Christ evangelistic effort was a monumental event, leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of over 30 attendees every night. The messages of grace, hope, and salvation continue to inspire those who were a part of this spiritual journey.
