Typhoon Victims in Masbate Receive Aid from Joint Adventist Humanitarian Mission

News October 27, 2025

MASBATE, Philippines — A joint humanitarian mission, “OPERATION TULONG” (Operation Help), successfully distributed financial assistance to typhoon victims in Masbate on Oct. 26, 2025.

This collaborative effort, themed “Sharing Love and Compassion for the Typhoon and Earthquake Victims,” was spearheaded by the Adventist-laymen’s Services & Industries (ASI) and Adventist Professionals (Ad Pro) of the Central Philippine Union Conference (CPUC).

The mission operated in collaboration with the ASI Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) and members from all ASI-Ad Pro chapters across the mission and conferences under CPUC.

The team that facilitated the event distributed financial aid to two locations: first in Panguiranan, Balud, Masbate, and subsequently at the Masbate SDA Central Church.

Among this group were Mayor Norman Sabdao, CPUC Ad Pro president; Engr. Conrado Avila, newly-elected SSD ASI vice-president;  and Pastor Lelord Arranguez, communication director and ASI-Ad Pro coordinator for the Central Visayan Conference.

The “Operation Tulong” team distributed financial assistance to 747 beneficiaries, amounting to more than P450,000, with the breakdown of sources of funds as follows: P350,000 from the CPUC ASI-Ad Pro, P56,000 from ASI-Ad Pro Masbate Province, and P50,000 from the Central Visayan Conference.

Pastor Berdandino Maniego, communication director and ASI-Ad Pro coordinator for the CPUC, extended his gratitude to all benefactors and donors whose love, compassion, and generosity made the mission possible.

“The humanitarian mission of our CPUC ASI-Adpro benefactors to the typhoon victims of Masbate is actually to exemplify the word love into action. It is better to give than to receive,” Pastor Maniego said.

He shared how the spirit of the CPUC ASI – Ad Pro family blessed him. For him, their willingness to share and their love, kindness, and compassion to the typhoon victims is truly inspiring.”

He also made special acknowledgment of the local Masbate ASI-Ad Pro family for their financial contributions and well-coordinated distribution efforts, led by Julius Tupaz, Masbate ASI president, and Richard Fernandez, Masbate Ad Pro president.

This humanitarian effort began when the leaders and members of ASI Ad Pro organized a donation drive for the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Northern Cebu on Sept. 30, 2025. In a remarkably short time, the advocates of Operation Tulong successfully raised over a million pesos for the charity.

Following the successful distribution in Masbate, CPUC ASI-Ad Pro announced plans for its next humanitarian effort, which will provide aid to earthquake victims in Bogo, Cebu.
