SDA General Conference Approves Reorganization of Central Philippine Union Conference

News October 15, 2025

SILVER SPRING, Maryland – The Central Philippine Union Conference (CPUC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is set to undergo a major reorganization following a vote taken yesterday, October 14, 2025.

The General Conference (GC) Executive Committee, meeting at the GC Autumn Council, unanimously approved the bifurcation/reorganization plan for the CPUC. This decision will ecclesiastically dissolve the existing CPUC and establish two new administrative units:

  • ECPUC (East Central Philippine Union Conference)
  • WCPUM (West Central Philippine Union Mission)

The move is considered a significant milestone for the church’s mission in the Central Philippines.

This final approval by the General Conference follows a multi-step process. The reorganization application was approved by the CPUC’s lower body in January 2025 and recommended to the General Conference through the Southern Asia-Pacific Division.

In a social media post, Pastor Eliezer “Joer” Barlizo Jr. has expressed deep gratitude to all those involved, including the GC Survey Commission Team, the SSD officers and directors, CPUC workers, and the team who prepared the documentation for the reorganization.

His lips were filled with adoration and gratitude for the progress of this bifurcation proposal as he exclaimed, “To God be all the glory! Praise be to Him.”

Before this event, he often expressed how difficult the parting would be. However, for the expansion of His work, he is willing to accept, as he said, “Thy will be done.”

The focus now shifts to the upcoming constituency meetings in Cebu:

  • ECPUC Constituency Meeting: November 20, 2025
  • WCPUM Constituency Meeting: November 21, 2025

Both meetings will be held at the Adventist Academy-Cebu International Church.
