Young people from the Northern Cebu District, in collaboration with theology students, conducted an outreach program for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at Bogo City Jail (BJMP) on July 30, 2025.
This initiative was part of the continuing efforts of the Nazareth, Paypay, Bethlehem, and Combado (NAAPAYBECO) Fellowship to engage young people in faith-based community outreach activities across Northern Cebu.
During the visit, the youth distributed food packs and Christian books to 117 PDLs, followed by a Bible study session by the theology students. These students come from the Central Philippine Adventist College in Murcia, Negros Occidental, for their summer literature evangelism.
Aside from this initiative, the students also assisted in other forms of ministries in the district. They aimed at bringing encouragement, hope, and spiritual growth, not just to the PDLs, but to the entire community. This way, these students gain first-hand experience in their future careers through field exposure orientation.
On the other hand, the youth from NAAPAYBECO, in collaboration with the NCD, have actively engaged in various community outreach programs before this activity. This jail ministry marks another milestone for them.
“Our goal is to share God’s love by helping and caring for others, especially those in need of spiritual support,” an NCD youth officer said as he shared the group’s mission during an interview.
Due to the impact of prison ministries and the joy it brings to the inmates, the youth are planning to visit different jails. The need to provide spiritual freedom to those behind bars is now weighing heavily on their hearts.
