In response to growing concerns of isolation and disconnection among its young adult members, the Catarman Seventh-day Adventist Church in Northern Samar officially launched its Young Adult Ministry - Catarman (YAM-C).

This ministry, launched on Aug. 31, 2024, aims to provide a supportive space for church members aged 30 and above to connect with others, grow spiritually, and engage in meaningful service.

The idea for the ministry started last July when some young adults said they felt disconnected from the usual church activities. This sense of disconnection was particularly felt by those transitioning into full adulthood, managing careers, and navigating family responsibilities.

In recognition of these challenges, church leadership, led by District Pastor Alberto M. Garzon Jr., worked closely with the young adults to create a ministry that specifically addresses their needs.

During the ministry's formal launch, members met to elect their first set of officers.

YAM-C's primary objective is to address the unique needs of young adults in the church. As members transition into adulthood, they often feel disconnected from traditional ministries, particularly after aging out of youth programs. This disconnection can lead to isolation and decreased church engagement. YAM-C seeks to bridge this gap by offering young adults a space to connect, share experiences, and explore their faith.

One of the core goals of YAM-C is to foster spiritual growth and discipleship among its members. The ministry is designed to engage those who may have drifted away from the church and provide mentorship and service opportunities to help them rediscover their faith. It aims to create a supportive, vibrant community where members can build lasting relationships, encouraging personal and spiritual growth.

Recognizing the immense potential of young adults, YAM-C aims to provide a supportive space and empower its members to actively participate in the church's mission. By encouraging active involvement in church ministries and outreach efforts, YAM-C aims to strengthen the church's mission and extend its impact in the community, inspiring members to make a difference.

With this launch, the Catarman SDA Church hopes to create a flourishing community for young adults, providing them with the support, spiritual guidance, and opportunities they need to thrive in their faith and personal lives.

Engr. Wyrlo Baylon, the newly elected YAM-C president, felt honored and blessed to serve the young adults as their president.

 This ministry, he mentioned, is established to reconnect with young adults, particularly those transitioning from youth to adulthood, who may feel isolated or disconnected from the church.

Their mission is to reach out to their friends who no longer attend church and invite them back into fellowship. They also plan to create programs that work with their age group, support the youth, and positively impact their community. 

With members working in both government and private sectors, they recognize the influence God has entrusted to them and are committed to using it for His glory.

"Our purpose is clear: to serve, uplift, and build a community that reflects Christ's love. By God's grace, we will stand together and serve the Lord with all our hearts. His mission is our mission," Engr. Waylo said.

This new ministry represents a significant step in addressing the evolving needs of young adults in the church. Through initiatives like YAM-C, the church is committed to building stronger connections, fostering spiritual growth, and empowering members to engage actively in God's mission.
