In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Canduman Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and in partnership with Gilead Cares, a successful medical mission was conducted on Sunday, March 23, 2025, providing free health care services to local residents.
The event, which took place on the church grounds, was a heartfelt tribute to the church’s commitment to faith, community, and service.
The medical mission, which drew large numbers of people from Canduman and neighboring areas, offered a wide range of health services, including general consultations, dental and optical services, and vital screenings.
The mission provided services to a total of 78 patients who received consultations, 51 patients who received dental care, and 53 individuals who benefited from optical services. Additionally, 30 patients had their Random Blood Sugar (RBS) levels checked, and 23 people were screened for blood typing.
Local healthcare professionals, including doctors, dentists, optometrists, nurses, and lab technicians, volunteered their time to make the mission a success. In addition to medical consultations, the mission provided free medications, eyeglasses, dental treatments, and blood sugar management support.
“This mission is a wonderful way for us to celebrate the anniversary of Canduman Church by giving back to the people who have supported us over the years,” said Ranel Hijapon, Canduman Church head elder.
“As the theme ‘A legacy of Faith,’ we also honor the health and well-being of individuals, and this event is a testament to our dedication to serving both the spiritual and physical needs of the community,” Hijapon added.
Residents expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the free healthcare services offered. “I’ve been struggling with my vision for months and couldn’t afford an eye exam,” said Virginia, a resident of Canduman. “Thanks to the optical services provided today, I’ll be able to see more clearly. I am so grateful for this opportunity.”
This anniversary marks not only a milestone for Canduman Church but also reinforces its mission to continue providing support for its members beyond the walls of the church.
The medical mission was seen as a vital service that addressed the community’s immediate health needs while celebrating the spirit of unity and service that has defined Canduman Church for the past years.
Organizers hope that this event will become a regular initiative, continuing to make a difference in the lives of the people of Canduman for years to come.
