Canduman Seventh-Day Adventist Church, a member of the Central Cebu District Association of Churches, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a weeklong event that combined service, worship, and reflection.
The festivities commenced on March 23, 2025, with a community-centered medical mission providing free health services. These services included dental care, eye examinations, vital signs assessment, blood type testing, and blood sugar monitoring.
It was followed by a three-night series of spiritual talks delivered by Pastor Jomar Compuesto, the field secretary of the Central Visayan Conference for the Integrated Lifestyle Evangelism and Nurturing, Discipleship, and Retention. His messages focused on the theme of the celebration: “Legacy of Faith.”
In one of his sermons, he urged the congregation to make a lasting impact through their faith in God and His promises. He emphasized that faith is not just a personal journey but a legacy that can transcend generations.
Drawing from biblical figures like Enoch, Pastor Compuesto highlighted how their faith left lasting impressions on history and inspired countless others. He explained that faith is not solely about individual salvation; rather, it creates a ripple effect that influences families, communities, and future generations.
Throughout his sermon, he provided practical examples, encouraging attendees to reflect on their own lives and consider how they can leave their own legacy of faith.
This three-night series, which explored the themes of faith, unity, and family, culminated in a special Sabbath service that touched the hearts of all who attended.
Pastor Rafael Carado, the dean of theology at Central Philippine Adventist College (CPAC) in Brgy. Alegria, Murcia, Negros Occidental, spoke passionately about the vital role of family in nurturing and sustaining a strong, enduring faith.
“Faith is not meant to be walked alone,” Pastor Carado began, addressing the congregation sincerely. “As families, we must walk together in one faith, united in prayer, love, and devotion to God. It is through the strength of our families that we can face the challenges of life, and it is within our homes that we cultivate the faith that will sustain us in every season.”
As he spoke, several members of the congregation were moved to tears, grappling with the profound realization of God’s unending grace. For many, the message raised a deeply personal question: Am I worthy of God’s blessings after all my failures and sins?
As the sermon concluded, Pastor Carado led a prayer alongside other ordained pastors, including Pastor Compuesto, Pastor Clyde Potot, the former district pastor of the North Central Cebu District Association of Churches, Pastor Jemwin Collegado, the CCDAC district pastor, and Pastor Jeoffrey Abing, the former pastor of Canduman Church.
He specifically prayed for the church officers and leaders, urging them to continue the legacy of faith, not just within their families but in the wider community.
Following the sermon, the church organized a special catered meal for everyone. Families and friends came together to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, breaking bread in the spirit of unity and community.
A photo booth was also set up on the church grounds, allowing attendees to create memorable moments from this unforgettable celebration. Many took home prints as keepsakes of the event.
The combination of an emotionally powerful sermon and shared meals struck a perfect balance of spiritual reflection and joyous fellowship. The church members, leaders, and guests left the house of worship with full hearts, enriched by the message and the deepened connections formed over food and laughter.
This event, which brought together families and friends to celebrate faith and spiritual journey, served as a reminder of the importance of fellowship that strengthens each believer’s walk with God. With a renewed sense of purpose and unity, the congregation of Canduman Church continues to move forward, committed to walking together in faith—blessed by God’s grace and strengthened by each other’s love.
The evening concluded with a final song of praise as the congregation stood together, raising their voices in gratitude for their blessings.
As Canduman Church celebrates its milestones, it does so with gratitude, recognizing that every step of the journey has been guided by faith and a commitment to serving others.
The congregation looks forward to many more years of spiritual growth, community outreach, and unwavering devotion to God’s mission.
