ASI-Ad Pro Honors Leaders Amid Reorganization and Farewell at Recognition Day

News December 7, 2025

The Central Philippine Union Conference (CPUC), recently reorganized into the East Central Philippine Union Conference (ECPUC) and the West Central Philippine Union Mission (WCPUM), honored key leaders of the Adventist-laymen’s Services and Industries and the Adventist Professionals (ASI-Ad Pro) during their Thanksgiving and Recognition Day.

The event, held on Dec. 6, 2025, at the newly organized ECPUC headquarters in Cebu City, was particularly memorable as it served as a send-off tribute for Pastor Berdandino Maniego, the long-serving ASI-Ad Pro coordinator for the former CPUC territory.

The recognition day gathered officers and coordinators from across the former CPUC territory; however, attendance was affected by Typhoon Wilma, which caused extensive travel cancellations across the Central Philippines.

Atty. Norman Sabdao, CPUC Ad Pro president, acknowledged the challenging circumstances in his welcome remarks. While expressing joy that the event went on despite the weather, he also expressed sadness that the typhoon prevented many from attending a gathering that would have been “merrier and more memorable.”

Aside from honoring the key ASI-Ad Pro leaders, the second central focus of the day was the transition of Pastor Maniego, fondly called the “Father of ASI-Ad Pro,” who is moving to his new role as the Central Visayan Conference president.

Reflecting on Maniego’s departure, Atty. Sabdao admitted to a moment of deep emotion. “I came here at the venue early,” he confessed, “and I was alone. Looking at the place and recalling the memories of the times we spent together with Pastor Maniego, I couldn’t help but cry.”

He shared his moments of human vulnerability about the future, wondering aloud what God’s greater plans are for the ministry now that their key leader is leaving. However, he believes this transition aligns with God’s greater plans for the organization.

Jonathan Lamorin, the president-elect of the ASI for the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, highlighted the organization’ssuccess during Maniego’s tenure. With the support of leaders across the CPUC, including officers and coordinators like Conrado Avila, SSD ASI vice president, ASI-Ad Pro achieved remarkable success, being recognized as the top organization in evangelism for two consecutive years (2024–2025).

Furthermore, Lamorin, in his message, expressed his appreciation for Maniego’s visionary leadership and his commitment and enthusiasm for the work God has entrusted to him.

“He revived the Adventist Professionals, and look at how big we are now,” Lamorin stated. “We have even become the inspiration in Luzon and the rest of the territories under SSD. The elite ministry used to be something distant and difficult, but with the seal, commitment, and leadership that God has blessed Pastor Maniego with, we made it!”

Heavy emotions filled the hall as Lamorin read the official plaque of recognition: “As you transition to a higher calling in the service of the Lord, we celebrate your achievements and acknowledge the lasting impact you have made in the name of the ministry and on the lives you have touched.”

Lamorin concluded his tribute with a prayer, hoping that the legacy of this humble servant of God will continue to thrive and expand globally, and that in his absence, many more leaders driven by a passion for the elite ministry will step forward.
