ASI, Ad Pro Convention in Western Visayas Sparks Renewed Commitments

News February 10, 2025

“To support God’s work until Jesus comes — is our family’s commitment!” declared Bro. Jonathan Lamorin, president-elect of the Adventist-laymen’s Services and Industries of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD), during the ASI/Adventist Professionals (AdPro) Convention in the West Visayan Conference (WVC).

The convention took place at the Iloilo Central Church in Iloilo City from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2, 2025. Lamorin’s passionate call to action emphasized the convention’s aim to support and advance the work of the church.

Aligned with the theme “United in Purpose, Empowered for Mission,” the convocation served as a platform for experienced and knowledgeable resource speakers to inspire and motivate attendees to become beacons of light in their workplaces.

Pastor Bernardino Maniego, ASI and Ad Pro coordinator for the Central Philippine Union Conference, delivered an inspiring message during the opening ceremony. He invited everyone to leave a lasting impact during their lifetime by actively engaging in ministry. He emphasized the importance of wholeheartedly doing good for others with a focused and dedicated mindset.

During the Sabbath program, Pastor Eliezer “Joer” Barlizo Jr., president of the Central Philippine Union Conference, offered insightful reflections on the calling of Abram in Genesis 12:3. He encouraged the congregation to be a blessing to others and reminded everyone that 2025 is designated as a year for evangelism.

“Let us all participate for the sake of our church’s mission,” Pastor Barlizo said.

After hearing CPUC’s evangelism road mapping in the morning, a series of inspiring testimonials followed in the afternoon. The credibility of personal experiences was highlighted as CPUC AdPro President Mayor Norman Sabdao and CPUC ASI President Engr. Conrado Avila Jr. shared their journeys to their current positions. They recounted the challenges they faced, emphasizing that it was their faith in the Great Provider that enabled them to emerge triumphant and better prepared to engage in ministry.

The next day, officers from various missions and conferences across CPUC held a comprehensive meeting. As plans were discussed and commitments were solicited, constant prayers of surrender to the Almighty became the norm, reaffirming the miracles that arise from the union of the human and the Divine.

In conclusion, Bro. Lamorin cited a quote from the pen of inspiration to emphasize the urgency of missionary work. It says, “We are to maximize our present opportunities. There will be no other probation given to us in which to prepare for heaven.”

It further stated, “This is our only and last opportunity to form characters which will fit us for the future home which the Lord has prepared for all who are obedient to His commandments.” (Last Day Events, page 236).
