Adventist Hospital Cebu honored its doctors with an appreciation dinner Feb. 2, 2025, at the Quest Hotel and Conference Center in Cebu City. The event recognized their dedication to the hospital’s mission of providing total care.
The evening began with an opening statement from Dr. Evelyn Pepito, president of AH-C, who underscored the importance of celebrating doctors’ invaluable contributions. “This gathering is our way of acknowledging your hard work and dedication,” Dr. Pepito said.
Messages of appreciation poured in from afar, including video tributes from Joshua Goh, consultant for the Southern Asia Pacific Division Adventist Healthcare System. He said, “Sharing the compassion of Christ as we provide services to patients, your dedication and service are truly appreciated.”
Miss Jo Ann Amparo, SSD Adventist Health System director, also admired the medical team. “Your work is not just a profession but a sacred ministry—healing and hope, compassion and care,” Miss Amparo said. You are more than healers of the body; you are menders of the soul.”
Mr. Roy Perez, chief executive officer of Adventist International Health System Philippines Inc., expressed his gratitude, emphasizing that “the mission is what sets us apart.” He reminded attendees that their role extends beyond treatments; they are called to bring hope and wholeness to every patient they serve.
The evening featured a buffet dinner, special gifts, and a symbolic gesture: each doctor was presented with AH-Cebu lapel pins, signifying honor and affiliation with the hospital. Dr. Leslie Adlaon, vice president of medical affairs, and Dr. Ted Gallo, chief of clinics, expressed their deep appreciation.
Among those attending was Pastor Calev Maquirang, executive secretary of the Central Philippine Union Conference, who conveyed inspiring messages on behalf of union president and hospital board chairman Pastor Eliezer Barlizo, thanking all health care providers for their devotion and dedication.
As Miss Amparo beautifully concluded her remarks: “We are deeply grateful for your partnership in this mission because we are not just a hospital; we are a beacon of light—a sanctuary where every person is treated not just as a patient but as a child of God.”
In a message on behalf of the dedicated AHC doctors, Dr. Yvette Seguerra, a pediatrician, reflected on her journey over the past two decades. When she first joined the hospital, she didn’t know anyone and was unfamiliar with the Adventist way of life. However, she felt welcomed, respected, and at home from the very beginning. Since then, she has remained with the institution.
“This is where I belong,” she remarked. “Thank you, AHC, for the past 20 years; I look forward to 20 more!”.
The evening also showcased uplifting musical performances by Mark Anthony Punay (also known as Makmak), a grand finalist from The Voice Kids Philippines; singer Ms. Imee Gacho; and saxophonist Mr. Bryant Napigkit. Their contributions added joy to an already vibrant atmosphere, highlighting the appreciation expressed through music.
For Adventist Hospital-Cebu, this gathering serves as a reminder of God’s guidance on their noble path of serving others with love and dedication, ultimately touching lives through the healing ministry of Christ.
