The literature evangelists of Samar Mission have risen to the challenge of conducting public evangelistic campaigns, bringing the gospel to five various communities across Samar Mission of Seventh-Day Adventists.
Four of five groups have completed their evangelistic efforts, resulting in 53 new souls committed to Christ through baptism.
Sitio Suksokon, Brgy. May-it, Basey, Western Samar hosted an evangelistic campaign from Aug. 11 to 17, 2024. Gospel speaker Jason Macaron shared the gospel message, while health lecturer and Pastor Alvin C. Carrera delivered health talks. The event culminated in the baptism of 13 individuals.
Moreover, the Catarman group held their health and gospel seminar at Talisay, Catarman, Northern Samar, from Sep. 15 to 21, 2024. A team of speakers, including Danilo Umacob, Dr. Rommel Francisco, Wrylo Baylon, Jade Dela PeΓ±a, Vic Letran, and Pastor Alberto Garzon Jr., conducted sessions featuring sermons and health discussions. The weeklong event bore fruit, and 12 individuals were baptized.
The Tinambacan Sur community in Calbayog City was the venue for the third evangelistic meeting, which took place from Sep. 8 to 14, 2024. Conducted by Gospel Speaker Melvin Caranzo, the evangelism reached many in the area, inviting 17 new believers to Jesus’ feet.
In an interview, Melvin Caranzo, Publishing Ministries assistant leader in Calbayog, shared some challenges they encountered during the evangelistic meetings. “Everything went smoothly. We were just short on the workforce during the crusade because it coincided with the youth crusade and the ‘Family Week of Prayer.’
The district pastor had to divide his time among the three activities that week,” Caranzo explained.
In Eastern Samar, the Loro Gote Church, in Quinapondan hosted another evangelistic campaign from Sep. 15 to 21, 2024. Health Lecturer Joemer Dauba and Gospel Speaker Willie Fuguso worked together to inspire and educate the attendees. Their evangelistic efforts concluded with the baptism of 11 individuals, further strengthening the Adventist community in the area.
Joemer Dauba, Publishing Ministries assistant leader based in Borongan City, shared the positive impact of the evangelistic activities on the Literature Evangelists.
He shared that the public evangelism his group conducted had brought great benefits to the group. It gave them renewed enthusiasm, courage, and stronger desires to share the message of salvation with the people they met through their distribution of literature.
“By participating in this work, the Lord also blessed us with increased sales. For us literature evangelists, more sales mean more souls reached. We also showed our fellow church members that literature evangelists are always ready to support the church in advancing the message of salvation.”
In recognition of their hard work and dedication, Pastor Daniel Taripe, Samar Mission Publishing Department director, extended great appreciation for the literature evangelists, “My heartfelt salute to our dedicated literature evangelists who, by the grace of God, have successfully harvested 53 precious souls in response to the ‘I Will Go’ challenge that means making disciples for Jesus. The Colporteur Ministry is truly a work second to none. Kudos!”
The successful evangelism initiatives led by the literature evangelists in these areas highlight the importance of public outreach and the power of the Holy Spirit in leading people to Christ.
With four out of five groups already completing their crusades, the LEs continue to bring the message of salvation and hope to Samar despite their challenges.
As the Samar Mission looks forward to the last group’s evangelistic efforts, the faithful dedication of the literature evangelists, the speakers, and the health lecturers encourage the mission leadership.
The outcome of their efforts proved their commitment to spreading God’s word and the gospel’s transformative power.
