Medical Mission Aids Earthquake Victims in Northern Cebu

News October 24, 2025

Residents of Sitio Suba, Talisay, Daanbantayan, Northern Cebu, received free essential medical services on Oct. 19, 2025. These recipients are among those affected by the recent earthquakes that struck Northern Cebu

Gilead Cares, a group of medical mission advocates, organized the event in collaboration with the Cebu AMiCUS Alumni Association, Liloan Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, and a team of dedicated volunteers.

During the mission, a total of 338 patients received free medical services, including circumcision, medical consultations, random blood testing, blood sugar testing, optical check-ups, dental care, legal counseling, and access to free medicines.

The initiative aimed to provide both physical relief and emotional support to the community as it navigates the aftermath of the disaster.

For the organizers and volunteers, the recent event concluded with an overwhelming sense of community and purpose. Attendees gathered to share their experiences and the positive impact that the day had on everyone involved.

“Many even expressed a strong desire to continue collaborating on future initiatives to promote compassion and support for those in need,” one of the organizers shared.

As the organizers reflected on the day’s success, they began discussing plans for upcoming events that would build on this momentum. They envisioned inviting even more community members to join their efforts, emphasizing that every contribution—whether time, resources, or talents—could make a significant difference.

Local leaders also voiced their commitment to fostering unity and collaboration within the community. They encouraged everyone to participate in these missions, reminding all that small acts of kindness could lead to profound change.

As the community gathered for a final reflection, there was a collective sense of motivation to engage and support one another moving forward. The event not only served as a day of service but also ignited a shared commitment to creating a lasting impact. Follow-up meetings were planned to gather feedback and ideas, ensuring that future missions are even more effective and meaningful.

The day ended on a high note, with a collective prayer that reinforced their shared purpose. Participants left feeling inspired and hopeful, united in the belief that together, with God’s guidance, they could continue to uplift lives and spread kindness throughout their community.

The organizers expressed their gratitude to all the sponsors and donors who contributed to the event’s success. Furthermore, they also thanked the Barangay Council of Talisay, Daanbantayan, led by Councilor Rachel Pepito, for their full support and for providing the venue for the activity.

In her message, Councilor Pepito expressed her appreciation and hope, saying that she wishes “this would not be the first and last, but the beginning of many more missions to come.”

For the facilitators, volunteers, and observers, the day concluded with smiles, gratitude, and renewed faith as everyone recognized that it was through God’s grace and guidance that the mission was accomplished.

One volunteer said, |”It was indeed a day of healing, service, and thanksgiving—showing God’s love in action through His people. I remember a Bible verse that says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” — Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
