Twenty-eight young Pathfinders accepted Jesus through baptism during the Central Visayan Conference (CVC) —wide Pathfinder Elementary Camporee from Feb. 18 to 23.
Held at Adventist Academy Cebu in Bulacao, Talisay City, Cebu, the camporee gathered participants from the Adventist elementary schools across Cebu, Masbate, and Bohol.
The camporee promoted a setting for fellowship and spiritual growth through its various activities and learning experiences. It also enriched the pathfinders’ young minds with the guest speakers’ powerful messages.
During the vesper worship, Sir Lemuel Banday, education director for the Central Philippine Union Conference, appealed to the children to make wise choices. Wise choices that are not just about personal success but about God’s purpose in their lives.
“I hope, dear pathfinders, that you commit to follow Jesus. You will go, serve Him, and lead for his glory. That is why you are here tonight,” Sir Banday said.
In the morning, during the morning devotional, Pastor Jomar Compuesto, field secretary of the Integrated Evangelism Lifestyle /Nurturing, Discipleship, and Retention for the Central Visayan Conference, made a call for the altar. Over 60 students stepped forward to accept Jesus Christ. He described how amazed he was by the Holy Spirit’s work in the children’s hearts.
“I never expected how God works in the hearts of children. I had the wrong assumption that I couldn’t expect much from them, but I was surprised when many of them came forward,” Pastor Compuesto shared.
These baptisms represented the most crowning moment of faith for the children and their families who attended from across the CVC.
