16 New Master Guides Invested in Central Cebu District

Sixteen individuals were officially invested as Master Guides last Sabbath, October 19, 2024, at the Mandaue City Central Church, well-known as Maguikay Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Pastor Harrold Hallasgo, the Youth Ministries/AMiCUS/1000 Missionary Movement director of the Central Visayan Conference, gave the final charge and prayed for these new master guides, dedicating them to serving God through leadership and ministry.

In a message, MG Neerel Daypuyart, Masterguide Club director in Lagtang Chapter, encouraged these 16 new youth leaders to be humble and passionate. “Being a master guide isn’t just about learning skills. It’s about becoming a better person and helping others.”

These 16 individuals were part of 36 young people who initially registered for the Master Guide program in 2023 at the Maguikay Master Guide Club, one of a few church-based Master Guide Clubs in Cebu.

Twenty-six trainees from the North and Central Cebu Districts participated in the induction ceremony on October 11, 2023, and embarked on a year of rigorous training.

Master Guides Jikko Formentera and Mary Clair Oman coordinated the comprehensive training program, with strong support from Master Guide Club Director Miraflor P. Orio and the MCCSDA church board.

The curriculum focused on developing leadership skills and spiritual growth, equipping participants to serve as mentors and role models for young people.

The newly invested Master Guides have formed a club named “VINCERE,” which stands for “Victory In Noble Work and Christ-like Example by Reaching Souls to Eternal Life,” with Jeffrey Obsioma III as the Club President.

VINCERE members, whom MG Director Orio presented during the investiture ceremony, are now eager to apply their leadership skills within their respective churches to empower and guide their fellow young people toward a closer relationship with God.

The Master Guide program is a key leadership development initiative within the Seventh-day Adventist Church Youth Ministries Department. It offers advanced training to individuals passionate about mentoring and leading young adults for the ministry.

The program emphasizes spiritual growth, leadership skills, and community service, all grounded in the motto: “To spread the advent message to all the world in our generation (Matt 28:19-20) as we gear to grow in all aspects of life just like Christ did (Luke 2:52).”
