Exciting cheers and enthusiastic applause filled the gymnasium as the Central Philippine Union Conference (CPUC) Sportsfest 2025 concluded its three-day event on Nov. 18.
Kicking off on Nov. 16, the event lived up to its core purpose: to promote camaraderie, relaxation, and fellowship among all participating missions and conferences across the CPUC territory.
The festivities began with a lively opening ceremony on Nov. 16, held at the Adventist Academy Cebu in Bulacao, Talisay City. It started with the parade of participants, representing institutions like the Central Visayan Conference, Negros Occidental Conference, Adventist Academy Cebu, and Adventist Hospital-Cebu.
The launch of “friendship games” quickly followed the morning devotional and the official opening of the sportsfest.
Matches in basketball, volleyball, lawn and table tennis, and pickleball then commenced, intentionally designed to encourage broad participation from both athletes and non-athletes alike.
As organizers emphasized, the goal was clear: enjoyment was prioritized over winning.

The ensuing days were a whirlwind of action and shared moments. From intense court battles to casual games, every match offered workers from different missions and departments a chance to reconnect, share laughs, and take a well-deserved break from their daily duties.
While every team and individual played with competitive spirit, the true victories were found off the scoreboard. An atmosphere of relaxation and fun prevailed as colleagues who typically interact only professionally bonded over missed shots, successful rallies, and joint team efforts.
The Sportsfest truly succeeded in building bridges, promoting collaboration, and reinforcing the feeling of being one large family working for the same mission.

On Tuesday, awards were presented, and the winners’ recognition was met with gracious applause from all sides. However, the lasting impression was not one of rivalry but of collective achievement, connection, and goodwill.
Pastor Charles Nogra, president of CVC, delivered a message during the morning devotional. He emphasized the importance of maintaining good health and leading a healthy lifestyle, particularly focusing on food choices and the decision to exercise.
“Research says that an hour of exercise can add two hours to our life span,” Pastor Nogra said. “Thus, we are happy that our organization encourages sports and recreation, even dismissing us early from work every Tuesday and Wednesday, so that we can play.”
The CPUC Sportsfest 2025 proves the value of recreation in workers’ lives, affirming the importance of rest, play, and fellowship. It successfully promoted the values of unity, teamwork, and, most importantly, the spirit of fellowship that unites the entire CPUC.
